Diary

Picture
For Lihong, diary is a vital research tool for delving into the fundamental themes of ‘home’ and the unhemlich, as well as a significant source of inspiration for her practice. Her diary series, which is displayed digitally on the exhibition, includes recordings of the artist’s quarantine experiences in both China and the United Kingdom, as well as periodic documentation of her bodily experience altering throughout each home-moving in 2021. In the diary, Lihong depicts in details her physical experience in the new space after the move, as well as the connection she develops with daily objects or furniture, which reflects the changes in her psychological condition.Thus far, three distinct times of experience have been documented in the diary:
Period 1:Artist’s quarantine in China in March 2020 and the discovery journey of the home space she lives in with her parents;
Period 2:Artist’s self-isolation in the UK in September 2020 (this is also a period of transition into a new residence);
Period 3:Artist’s experience of moving in London at the end of July 2021.
