Phantom Project consists of a series of linear three-dimensional drawings that recreate, in life-size, the furniture and everyday items Lihong used in flat 506 Frobisher House, where she lived from September 2021 to August 2022. This work mirrors the format of a secure and domestic environment while also promising to provide a sensation of displacement. By replicating her dwelling space, she consciously created a scene and oriented the viewer with replicated images of furniture and daily objects that evoked memories and associations of their own familiar past. Meanwhile, Lihong tried to create visual obstacles for the audience by unifying the background of the display space and the colour of the image being produced, which thus could offer the audience a sense of uncertainty both visually and psychologically, which induces the uncanny by visually immersing them in an experience that feels both familiar and unfamiliar, real and unreal, present and seemingly absent. Also, it is a response to Lihong's thoughts on home, feelings of displacement and the issue of presence and absence.
